Hello there,
Welcome back to WooWeekly! I’m glad you’re here for another round of WooCommerce insights. Every week, I curate tips and tutorials for you to help you sharpen your WooCommerce skills.
We’re just back from Catania – it was unusually warm for this time of year, but we still managed to sneak in a bit of sightseeing and, more importantly, a lot of non-touristy food (always the best part!). The kid slept the whole way back, so the drive home was surprisingly peaceful. No complaints!
On the business front, I’ve got to be honest – it’s been a bit rough. I know I’m not alone here (see this tweet), but a mix of AI, WP drama, and a dip in WooCommerce interest is definitely hurting. Compared to the same period last year, revenue is down 34%, and traffic is down a whopping 61%. It’s tough. That said, I’m still standing thanks to some solid, unique assets here at Business Bloomer – and I’m doubling down on what works.
Some brighter news:
- Lastly, after a quiet April, things are picking up again. Especially for mini plugins, both free and on sale. I’m hoping to go from the current 41 plugins (not counting the 2 hidden addons and the all-access bundle) to 50 by the end of May. Let’s see if I can hit that goal.
- Next week’s live class is going to be a good one: Send These 7 WooCommerce Emails & Watch Sales Grow. We’re at 38 attendees, 12 seats left – hope to see you there!
- I’m also announcing my final May class before taking a summer break: Supercharge WooCommerce With Custom Product Options. Registration is open now.
Anyhow, here’s your weekly round-up of WooCommerce tips and tricks. Enjoy!

WooCommerce Tips, Snippets & Tutorials
Here is a collection of posts to answer your biggest WooCommerce questions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced store owner, these resources will help you optimize your WooCommerce store and grow your online business.
WooCommerce: Complete Button @ Order Admin
Typically, to mark an order as “Completed,” you’d have to open the order, change the status from the dropdown, and then click “Update”. That’s an extra step that can feel repetitive if you’re doing it often. In this quick developer tutorial, I’ll show you how to add a “Complete Order” button directly to the single order edit page in the WooCommerce admin. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce Devs: Grow Your Plugin Business on WPBay
Creating high-quality plugins is only half the battle. The real challenge lies in gaining visibility for your product, generating traffic, and capturing value in a sustainable way – ideally through recurring, stable revenue. Meet WPBay: a developer-first marketplace designed as a genuine alternative. They offer a real solution with low commission rates, flexible licensing and pricing options, non-exclusivity, and powerful developer tools. [Business Bloomer]
How to Set Up Local Pickup in WooCommerce
Imagine the following scenario: A customer browsing your online store spots the perfect birthday gift for their friend. The party’s tonight, and shipping won’t get it there in time. They add the item to their cart but abandon it at checkout when they realize pickup isn’t an option. Just like that – poof – you’ve lost a sale. [CheckoutWC]
What is Ghost Commerce? (2025 Guide)
Looking to start a ghost commerce store in 2025, but don’t know what it is, how it works, and how to set it up successfully? This guide is here to help. Ghost commerce is such a hot topic today. But what this business model is and how it works isn’t clear-cut. It is perfectly normal to wonder how it differs from dropshipping, affiliate marketing, or traditional ecommerce. [Iconic]
Beyond passwords: The benefits of two-factor authentication for website owners
With increasing reports of data breaches and growing privacy concerns, security has become a differentiating factor for many businesses. A focus on security signals to your users that you take the protection of their data seriously. That’s why going beyond passwords with two-factor authentication (2FA) can be an important part of your security strategy. [Kinsta]

ICYMI: WooCommerce Snippets
WooCommerce: Allow Guest Checkout For Existing Customers
If you disable Guest Checkout via the settings, all customers are required to either log into an existing account or register a new one during checkout. The problem? Returning customers who aren’t logged in will be forced to remember their credentials or manually reset their password, just to place another order. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Simplify Free Checkout
If your WooCommerce store occasionally offers free products—whether as part of a promotion, a free trial, or a lead magnet—you may have noticed that the default checkout still displays all billing (and shipping) fields. Thankfully, there’s a simple way to customize this behavior and show only the checkout fields you truly need. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Inject Ad After the nth Product @ Shop Page
Is it possible to insert a custom loop item, such as a promotional banner or a “fake” product, into the WooCommerce shop page after a specific number of real products – for example, after the third one? Spoiler alert: yes, it is! [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Prevent Duplicate Orders
Sometimes customers accidentally submit the same order twice, or there may be a temporary issue with a WooCommerce payment gateway or a plugin conflict—such as the Sucuri Firewall problem in March 2025. This can result in duplicate charges, refunds, chargebacks, admin costs and a poor user experience. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Auto-Hide Products Without a Featured Image
Instead of manually checking and updating each product, you can use a simple PHP snippet to exclude products missing a featured image from your shop, category, and search pages. This approach keeps your store looking polished while preventing customers from encountering blank product thumbnails. The best part? It only takes a few lines of code to implement. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Hide Columns @ My Account Downloads Table
Want to customize the WooCommerce “Downloads” table on the My Account page? By default, WooCommerce displays multiple columns (“Product”, “Downloads remaining”, “Expires”, “Download”), but you may want to remove some for a cleaner look or to focus on essential information. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Add Column to Orders Table @ WP Dashboard
So the question is: how can we display additional columns in the orders table, so that we can display an order custom field, a specific product contained in the order, or anything order-related that can be “calculated” once we have access to the $order variable? Note: this snippet is not compatible with HPOS, as it relies on legacy hooks. For an HPOS-compatible solution, please consider the suggested free plugin. [Business Bloomer]
WooCommerce: Automatically Complete Processing Orders
If you wish to mark paid orders as “Completed” automatically (i.e. without having to manually login to the site and “check” processing orders one by one), you can use this code. Apparently, this won’t work with COD / BACS / Cheque orders when order total is > 0, so I also coded a free plugin to get this sorted. [Business Bloomer]
