Happy Wednesday!
I’m in Rome this week visiting my mom, and it’s hot. Properly hot. Most of our days revolve around air conditioning, indoor shopping and indoor dining, which is not exactly how I pictured a family trip to the capital… The funny thing is that I’m not looking forward to going back to Palermo next week either, because the forecast there isn’t any kinder. September in Italy still feels like August, and I’m ready for it to stop.
On the business side, lots is happening behind the curtains, and I hope to start building in public every day as soon as schools reopen (mid Sep) and I get my four full hours of focused, organized work back. I realized I made it through the whole summer without opening my diary once, and I’m still not sure how to feel about it. It’s great, because it meant plenty of brainstorming and working on what I actually wanted to work on. It’s also a little scary, because maybe I went slightly… too far with personal projects and playing with AI. We’ll find out soon enough.
Why My WooCommerce Plugins Now Have Monthly Pricing
My mother-in-law walked out of The Odyssey at half time last week. Horrible, weird, too noisy, she said, and she’s a retired teacher who reads the reviews and knows the whole story going in.
But I still want to go see it myself. Not because I think she’s wrong, but because her experience of that film isn’t mine, and the only way I’ll actually know is by sitting in the cinema room!
That’s roughly how I feel about pricing advice in the WordPress world right now. On August 26 I asked a simple question on social media: does anyone actually sell monthly subscriptions instead of the standard yearly one for a plugin or theme?
I know customers are used to “yearly”, but I wanted to test it anyway.

Introducing Order Withdrawal in WooCommerce 11.1
WooCommerce 11.1 introduces Order Withdrawal, bringing the right of order withdrawal functionality to better serve EU customers. This gives customers a simple, self-serve way to request a withdrawal from their order within 14 days of placing it.
This feature may help your store meet these requirements, but it does not guarantee compliance. For guidance specific to your business and where your customers are located, please consult a legal professional.

But before you flip the switch on an existing live store, you need to understand that HPOS changes one of the most important parts of how WooCommerce stores and retrieves order data.

Thinking of Moving from WooCommerce to Shopify? Read This First
Acustomer recently told us why they moved from WooCommerce to Shopify. They had no time to manage plugins, updates, and SEO, and their traffic wasn’t growing. That reasoning drives many migrations every year, but it deserves closer inspection.
If you’re thinking about WooCommerce vs Shopify with a move in mind, you might be surprised to learn that almost every problem you’re trying to escape moves with you.
