WooWeekly #602: Would I Launch on the WooCommerce Marketplace Today?

Happy Wednesday!

I’ve finally settled into the beach house and my “summer mode” has officially kicked in. Longer sleeps, more time outdoors, no TV, plenty of games with my son, and the occasional work day squeezed in between. It’s a slower rhythm, and a much healthier one too. The challenge now will be figuring out how to keep at least some of it when we move back to the city in September!

On the business side, I had one of those rare mornings a couple of days ago where you wake up and suddenly something clicks. For the first time in a long while, I feel like I know exactly where the Business Bloomer Club is heading and what needs to happen for it to become a real institution within the Woo ecosystem. The vision is surprisingly simple: in-person conferences for those who can travel and want to build relationships face-to-face, and an online community that supports Woo builders throughout the rest of the year. I’ve already started working on it, and the more I think about it, the more it just makes sense.

That clarity is probably why I’ve been thinking a lot about long-term bets lately. What deserves your time? What channels are worth investing in? And how do you decide whether an opportunity is still as attractive today as it was a few years ago? That led me to today’s opinion piece, where I try to answer a question I’ve been asked many times: would I launch on the WooCommerce Marketplace today?

Would I Launch on the WooCommerce Marketplace Today?

For years, I never seriously considered launching a plugin on the WooCommerce Marketplace.

Today, that barrier feels somewhat lower than ever.

I decided to take a closer look: what does selling on the WooCommerce Marketplace actually look like today, and does it still make sense for small developers like me?

Introducing CommerceGurus Turbo: Faster WooCommerce Stores

Making a WooCommerce store genuinely fast meant installing and configuring a stack of separate plugins, plugins that conflict with each other when they aren’t carefully set up and, in the worst cases, break the checkout flow entirely.

So we built CommerceGurus Turbo.

AI is moving from one-off prompts into tools that can connect to the systems you use every day. For Woo-focused agencies and developers, that means new workflows for managing stores, supporting clients, creating products, reviewing site issues, and exposing extension features in ways AI tools can understand and act on.

What’s changing in Action Scheduler 4.0.0

Action Scheduler’s tables have quietly become some of the busiest in many WooCommerce databases, and on high-volume stores they could grow faster than the cleanup could keep up, with failed actions never cleared at all. 4.0.0 is largely about fixing that: tighter retention of failed actions, and cleanup that scales better.

How Product Labels Increase Conversions In WooCommerce

Most WooCommerce store owners treat product badges as an afterthought. A red “SALE” rectangle gets slapped onto discounted items, and that’s where the strategy ends. The problem is that this approach ignores what UX researchers have spent years studying: how shoppers actually process visual information on product pages.

This guide breaks down what the research says about how product labels increase conversions, which label types perform best in testing, and how to build a data-driven badge strategy for your WooCommerce store using Advanced Promo Kit.

Booqable alternative: why WooCommerce store owners choose Rental Products instead

If you’re running a rental business on WooCommerce and researching Booqable, you’ve probably noticed it’s a completely separate platform. That means migrating your entire operation away from WooCommerce, or running two disconnected systems.

For the 15,000+ stores already using Kestrel plugins, that’s a non-starter. Here’s why Rental Products for WooCommerce makes more sense for existing WooCommerce stores.
