WooWeekly #585: AI Meets WooCommerce | Selling on Marketplaces | LCP Improvement

Hello there,

Welcome back to WooWeekly—where ~20,000 WooCommerce builders come each week for actionable tips, sharp insights, and the occasional strong opinion.

I’m still battling a cold. It’s not terrible, just annoying enough to mess with sleep and leave me tired exactly when I need to be sharp. Thankfully I don’t really have time to complain, and staying busy with work is actually helping more than resting would.

Business-wise, I’ve just published two new free classes—Why You Should Build WooCommerce Products in Public (in 8 days) and WooCommerce in 2027: The New Admin Design (next month), so make sure to grab a spot.

Checkout Summit regular tickets are available for another four days, which means this is the window to save €120 if you were planning to come. I’m pushing hard on all fronts right now—marketing, outreach, announcements—and I should be revealing a top speaker today on Twitter/LinkedIn (hint: founded a very popular plugin company, now works at Woo, and people love him both online and in person). Two more sponsors are also dropping this week.

Everything else is quiet—not because nothing’s happening, but because I’ve gone all-in on this. Let’s see what happens.

Anyhow, here comes your weekly round-up of WooCommerce tips and tricks. Enjoy!

Is AI Really WooCommerce’s Future—or Just Its Loudest Distraction?

I didn’t catch yesterday’s DoTheWoo episode “AI Meets Woo: the Future of Ecommerce is Already Here”—I was picking up my kid from basketball—but when I played it back, the tone was clear: “This is happening. This is the future. This is exciting”.

Actually, AI is part of our present. It’s already in our systems, and it’s not going anywhere. The work being done by James is genuinely impressive, he’s super smart, and the team deserves trust. That’s why I’m not worried (and will never worry) about AI + Woo. We’re in great hands.

But here’s the question nobody seems to ask when a new trend explodes: does the newest toy replace the old favorites—or just sit beside them?

WooCommerce didn’t become the market leader because of automation, protocols, or shiny tech. It got there because of flexibility, open source, extensibility, ownership, and—most of all—community.

AI might be the loudest conversation right now, but it’s not the foundation. People are.

So yes, watch the episode. Stay informed. Get excited. Just don’t confuse what’s trending with what actually built—and will keep sustaining—Woo’s dominance.

In a couple of months, someone I deeply respect from the Woo ecosystem will step on stage to talk about exactly that: how community shapes decisions, where Woo is heading, and what truly deserves our focus next.

That’s the conversation I’m really waiting for.
