WooWeekly #534: Feature Products Programmatically | Voice SEO | FOMO Marketing

Hello there,

Welcome back to WooWeekly! I’m glad you’re here for another round of WooCommerce insights. Every week, I curate tips and tutorials for you (and the other 19,497 subscribers!) to help you sharpen your WooCommerce skills.

Nothing major to report this week on the personal front (which is a good thing!), but next week we’re off to Rome for my dad’s birthday. My son is already excited, so it should be a fun trip.

On the business side, I finally tackled something I’ve wanted to implement for years – autocertification for online courses. Business Bloomer Club PRO members can now visit the “Exam and certificate” lesson of each course and download their certificate. Curious to see how this plays out!

Besides that, I’ve been deep into API integrations for clients, which always seem to be the trickiest part of working with a WordPress/WooCommerce site (but let’s blame the APIs for that).

And next Tuesday, we’re back live for Live Migrating a WooCommerce Site to HPOS – I’m excited since I’ve never done it before, so it’ll be a great test.

Anyhow, here’s your weekly round-up of WooCommerce tips and tricks. Enjoy!

WooCommerce Tips, Snippets & Tutorials

Here is a collection of posts to answer your biggest WooCommerce questions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced store owner, these resources will help you optimize your WooCommerce store and grow your online business.

WooCommerce: Programmatically Mark Products As Featured

For store owners managing hundreds of products, setting featured items manually is inefficient. A dynamic approach can save admin time by automatically marking products as featured based on specific conditions, such as category, price, or custom logic. [Business Bloomer]

Sound advice: optimize your website for voice search

Voice SEO doesn’t mean adding voice recognition to your website. Instead, it involves making your site comprehensible to virtual assistants so they can provide accurate answers to user queries. Think of it as preparing your content for spoken questions like “What’s the best pizza place nearby?” or “How do I bake sourdough bread?”. [Kinsta]

How to Use FOMO Marketing in Your Ecommerce Store

Have you thought about using FOMO marketing to drive sales in your ecommerce store but don’t know how? This guide is here to help. FOMO marketing can add the much-needed sense of urgency to nudge customers to purchase. It is a powerful purchase motivator as long as it’s used ethically. [Iconic]

How to Measure and Improve Your WooCommerce Checkout Conversion Rate

Most WooCommerce store owners focus heavily on driving traffic but overlook a critical metric: the checkout conversion rate. A poorly optimized checkout process costs you sales and wastes your marketing budget. The good news? You can fix this with data-driven improvements. [Studio Wombat]

ICYMI: WooCommerce Snippets

WooCommerce: Sticky Product “Update” Button @ WP Admin

In the WooCommerce product edit / add new product screen, the “Publish” / “Update” button is crucial for saving changes. However, when editing long product descriptions, adding images, or configuring variations, the button can disappear as you scroll down. A simple solution is to make the button sticky, ensuring it remains visible no matter how far you scroll. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Filter Products By Sale Status @ WP Dashboard

Sorting through hundreds or even thousands of products to find those with active sale prices can be a tedious task using the default WordPress admin interface. In this post, I’ll show you how to enhance your WooCommerce admin panel with a simple PHP snippet that adds a custom filter for sale status. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Allow Only Simple Products

WooCommerce stores that exclusively sell simple products can benefit from a cleaner backend by removing unused product types like variable, grouped, and external products. Simplifying the product editor and backend product listings not only declutters the interface but also reduces the chances of store managers making mistakes when adding or managing products. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Duplicate Order @ WordPress Dashboard

In WooCommerce, the ability to quickly duplicate orders can save time when managing repeat purchases or creating similar orders. However, this feature isn’t available by default. While plugins exist to add it, they can be complex or overengineered for simple use cases. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Remove “Payments” From WordPress Sidebar Admin Menu

The “Payments” tab in the WordPress admin sidebar menu was introduced in newer versions of WooCommerce. So, if you’ve always wanted to get rid of it, here’s a quick snippet that will do the trick! [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Purchase History (With Review Buttons) @ My Account

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, you know how important product reviews are for building trust and boosting sales. But as your product catalog grows, it can become hard for customers to keep track of which purchases still need reviews. That’s where a Purchase History tab comes in handy. Imagine offering your customers a simple way to see all their previous purchases, with a clear indicator of which items they haven’t reviewed yet. [Business Bloomer]
