WooWeekly #408: My Account, Shoptimizer, New Country

Hello there,

Welcome back to WooWeekly, your weekly appointment with WooCommerce tutorials, tips and updates handpicked for you (and the other 16,426 subscribers) so that you can learn something new.

This week it’s WCUS time so we’ll take it a little easier. I believe half of our huge WooWeekly team is in San Diego, so good luck with that, David! Enjoy!

1. Brand New WooCommerce Tips

WooCommerce: Hide Specific Orders (e.g. On Hold) From My Account Orders Page

It may happen that you, as a WooCommerce store manager, need to hide certain orders, for example the “on-hold” ones, or all orders with a custom order status. Thankfully, this is very easy with a few lines of PHP. ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Shoptimizer Theme Review

In this article, we review one of the fastest WooCommerce themes – Shoptimizer. We’ll take a look at the theme’s overview, interface, important features, and pricing to see if it’s the right fit for your WooCommerce store. Let’s begin! ~ David Mainayar, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Add a New Country For Billing/Shipping

In this edge case study, we’ll basically take a look at how to add a custom country, how to make sure this custom country shows at checkout as a possible option (and in the shipping zones admin section), and also how to assign to it a custom list of states. You never know! ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

2. David’s WooCommerce Highlights

Here are a few notes written by David of PeachPay, WooWeekly co-author.

Say hi to WOOFF

It’s never easy to find the right WooCommerce extension. Either you land on an affiliate website, or you land on WooCommerce.com. These websites provide solid information about your options, but they’re not without prejudice. Of course, we 100% understand that. Still, WOOFF saw the opportunity to create a “Yellow Pages” platform for WooCommerce plugins and present the endless possibilities in a more neutral way. Plugin vendors can list for free, forever.

( WCUS + WCEU ) != WOO

Ok, a bit of a code game there; in plain English, the WCUS won’t feature a single WooCommerce talk (out of 51 sessions). Rodolfo said the same about WCEU 2022 a few weeks ago. What’s going on with WooCommerce? Why no one talks about it? Why no WooCommerce talk is selected at two of the most important WordPress events of the year? Time to get WooConf back, asap.

3. ICYMI: WooCommerce Articles

WooCommerce: Search By Custom Field

The default WooCommerce frontend product search returns results based on whether the search term is present in the product title, SKU, short and long description. But what if you also want to search inside a custom field? ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Donation / Fundraising Plugins

This article shares the best, easy-to-use, affordable WooCommerce fundraising and donations plugins you can use. Let’s get started! ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Populate Checkout Fields From URL

On top of adding products to cart via URL and redirect to checkout, there is a way to also fill out the Checkout page input fields within the same link. This could be super handy when you know the billing/shipping details of a registered or guest customer and want to speed up the order process. ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Rename “Completed” Order Status

Now, wouldn’t it be cool if we could rename the “completed” order status label to something else? This would make everyone’s life easier. Well, thankfully with a few lines of code this is definitely possible… enjoy! ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer
