2. David’s WooCommerce Highlights

Here are a few notes written by David of PeachPay, WooWeekly co-author.

WordPress Core Performance

Adam Silverstein sat down with Zach Stepek, Carl Alexander, and Till KrĂĽss to discuss — you guessed it — WordPress core performance. When you bring together some of the world’s foremost experts on WordPress/WooCommerce scaling, you know that performance is bound to be the main topic of conversation. For anyone interested in how the performance of WordPress core ties into large WooCommerce plugins, this is not an episode to miss.

GoDaddy’s Q2 Earnings Report

Buckle up, because we need to take a moment to break down two critical components of GoDaddy’s Q2 earnings report: GoDaddy Payments & the WooSaas offering.

First, GoDaddy Payments is being adopted en masse across the hosting behemoth’s network. For the GD Websites + Marketing packages, over 80% of commerce customers opted to use GD Payments. For Managed WordPress packages, 30% of commerce customers opted to use it. Furthermore, GoDaddy’s annualized GMV stands at $28 billion, which is roughly equal to the total GMV of the entirety of WooCommerce (although estimates widely vary between $20-40bn).

Secondly, Q2 saw GoDaddy launch its invite-only beta WooSaas offering, which has been the cause of sustained conversation and interest in the community. The offering is geared toward GoDaddy Pro users running 7-figure GMV WooCommerce stores. The offering is essentially an amalgam of the technologies developed by Poynt, SkyVerge, Pagely, and more.

Personally, I have high hopes for these two GoDaddy initiatives, and I think they will enshrine GoDaddy’s place as perhaps the preeminent WooCommerce hosting provider. I can go on about the future of payments all day, but suffice to say GoDaddy is leading the way.

3. ICYMI: WooCommerce Articles

WooCommerce: Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Discounts

Since… today, Business Bloomer online courses are affordable for everyone. In this post, I’ll go through a quick PPP math example to give you some context, and then I’ll tell you how I implemented PPP discounts on my WooCommerce website. ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Change Default My Account Tab

What if we want to set another My Account tab as the default one upon login, for example the “Orders” one, or the “Downloads” one for a digital downloads WooCommerce business? Well, there are a couple of quick and not-so-quick solutions, enjoy! ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer

WooCommerce: Change Product Quantity @ Checkout Page

In this post, we’ll see how to add a quantity input beside each product on the Checkout page, and then we’ll code a “listener” to make sure we actually refresh the Checkout and update totals after a quantity change. ~ Rodolfo Melogli, Business Bloomer
