WooWeekly #255: Count Purchases, SEO Tips, Gutenberg

How are you?

I know it’s Thursday and not Wednesday, but yesterday I took a deserved day off for International Workers’ Day 2019. Here in Italy we celebrate May 1st with gigs, friends and of course lots of barbecued food… so I spent a nice day at the beach house!

Anyway, better late than never, welcome to our WooCommerce Weekly newsletter appointment; here comes a series of WooCommerce articles put together by yours truly so that you can learn something new. You’ll also find a “What I’m working on this week” update and a brand new “SEO Tip of the Week“.

Thank you in advance and enjoy!

WooCommerce: Count Purchases By Product ID (Shortcode)

If you’re developing custom landing pages or sections dedicated to logged in customers, knowing the quantity purchased of a certain product ID might come useful. From this snippet you can learn lots of things, for example how to create custom shortcodes, how to get customer orders, and how to set up a foreach loop in PHP. Either way, enjoy: https://businessbloomer.com/woocommerce-count-purchases-by-product-id-shortcode/

A Quick Content Strategy

Do you struggle with content (what to write, when and why?). If so I recommend the use of a tool for a short time period to plan content for long term benefits. Here’s your checklist:

  • Paste your website URL in the tool – if your website is new or doesn’t get a lot of traffic, use your top competitor
  • Note down the top 10 competing domains, and do the same for each of them
  • Now paste their domain name into the tool and look for their most visited pages
  • Analyse the relevant results and create high quality content related to this topic

Can’t afford a paid tool? Try the 7 days Ahrefs trial, it costs $7 and you can get enough data for several months: https://businessbloomer.com/how-to-do-keyword-research-for-a-woocommerce-site/

Hope this helps 🙂

New: “What I’m Working on This Week”

  • Last 2 weeks have been hectic due to travelling, helping out my other half and several holidays. I’ve got a plan: premium online course videos to be revised by June, ecommerce book to be revised and version 2 to be published during the summer, new WooCommerce online course coming up in October.
  • I’ve revised the CSS for Business Bloomer header (and I’m not happy at all with it) – I know I need a new brand identity and a redesign.
  • I’ve done great progress on my landing pages redesign with Gutenberg. After my homepage, I finally republished https://businessbloomer.com/bloomer-armada/ and I’m delighted with the results.
