How you doing?
It’s a rainy Wednesday today, but I guess it has to rain before it shines 🙂
Anyhow, most importantly it’s time to get back to business with our WooCommerce Weekly newsletter – here comes a series of WooCommerce tutorials, tips, reviews and workarounds put together by yours truly so that you can learn and test something new.
At the bottom you also find a new “What I’m working on this week” section, and another brand new section – starting next week, in fact, I will also feature some SEO tips written by an SEO consultant. Hope these additions are helpful… but the only way I can find that out is if you let me know by clicking “reply” to this email and give me feedback.
WooCommerce: Add a Second Content Box @ Product Category Pages
In terms of SEO, if you’re trying to rank your product category pages, you really need to make the most of the default WooCommerce product category “description” and “thumbnail”. So, here’s how they do it:

WooCommerce: Show Empty Product Categories
By default, empty WooCommerce product categories will not display on your Shop page. Thankfully there is a quick one-line fix that you can copy / paste in your functions.php to show empty categories… enjoy:

Coming Soon: “SEO Tip of The Week”
Starting next week, and for several weeks in a row, an SEO consultant will share premium SEO tips (and I will also add WooCommerce-specific instructions if necessary).
We will talk about content marketing, technical SEO, YOAST, free and premium SEO analysis tools and of course, Google. Stay tuned for our first issue next week!
New: “What I’m Working on This Week”
- After rebuilding my homepage https://businessbloomer.com/ with Gutenberg I was pretty satisfied with the results. However by looking at my Google Analytics, the bounce rate has increased considerably – I need to figure out why and keep testing of course. I’ll keep you updated!
- New blog posts (including the ones you see above) are now published with Gutenberg. I’m becoming faster at assembling blocks.
- Last week’s Sucuri problem was quite major, and client’s hosting (SiteGround) and Sucuri don’t know what caused the issue.
- I got an email notification that for the 4th year in a row, my WordCamp Europe talks / workshops have not been selected. I probably won’t go to WordCamp Europe for the first time in 4 years.
- This week I’m working with two WooCommerce clients on “Conversion Rate Optimization” – I’m helping store owners, one hour at a time, to increase sales and conversions by adding snippets and customizing the design / checkout flow.
- So far I met in person 3 vendors for the Sicilian marketplace I just launched, https://apieceofsicily.com/en/
- I sent a “How you doing?” email to three existing WooCommerce clients I did not hear from in a while.
- I keep complaining I have no time to do my personal projects: revising and publishing a second edition of my ecommerce book, writing a book inspired by my 6-month travel experience in South America 3 years ago, recording revised videos for CustomizeWoo online course, planning content and video recording for a new WooCommerce course and so on.
