WooWeekly #576: wc_enqueue_js Deprecation | Customer Support | Mistakes to Avoid | Checkout Summit Speakers

Hello there,

Welcome back to WooWeekly! Every week, I curate tips and tutorials to help you sharpen your WooCommerce skills.

Happy to be flying to Rome on my own to visit my parents tomorrow—something I genuinely need every now and then. When we’re all together, the focus naturally shifts to the grandkid, so a solo trip gives me some proper time with them. Strike permitting, I’m also planning to join the local WordPress meetup on Friday; it’s been ages, and nothing is happening in Sicily (I’m working on that, alright!).

Black Friday has been rough, not for sales, but because the people I needed to talk to—potential speakers, sponsors, attendees—were entirely absorbed for weeks. Only now I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. I still managed to announce three new speakers for Checkout Summit on Sunday, and yesterday’s Plugin Marketing class was a big success with 102 attendees. The recording and materials are already available to members.

It’s now time for a small break and to start thinking ahead to 2026. I’d love your input: what WooCommerce masterclass would you want to see next year? Just hit reply and let me know.

Anyhow, here’s your weekly round-up of WooCommerce tips and tricks. Enjoy!

WooCommerce Tips, Snippets & Tutorials

Here is a collection of posts to answer your biggest WooCommerce questions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced store owner, these resources will help you optimize your WooCommerce store and grow your online business.

WooCommerce 10.4: How to Replace wc_enqueue_js()

wc_enqueue_js() is one of those WooCommerce functions that quietly sat there for years, powering countless snippets and plugins—including a huge amount of my own work. It always “just worked,” which is why this deprecation notice in WooCommerce 10.4 hit me harder than expected. The reasoning behind the change is solid: that function has always wrapped inline JavaScript inside jQuery, even when jQuery wasn’t needed. It added weight, created unnecessary dependencies, and didn’t really fit with modern WordPress practices. And the community has been asking WooCommerce to move on from it since 2020. Still… when you rely on something for so long, seeing it go instantly forces you to rethink a lot of code. So in this video, I decided to test Woo’s suggested replacement live, using one of my snippets. I went in with mixed feelings—part nostalgia, part fear of the refactoring ahead—but also curiosity. Change is uncomfortable, but sometimes it’s the only way to keep things moving forward. If you use WooCommerce snippets or build plugins, this one’s worth a watch. Watch my video tutorial on YouTube

WooCommerce Customer Support Reimagined

Every once in a while I stumble onto a WooCommerce article that makes me stop and think about how much time we all waste on… support. Not the conversations themselves, but the process around them. If you’ve ever done customer support for your own store, you know the pain: five tabs open, searching for an order, digging for the customer’s history, copying product links, jumping into the dashboard, coming back to the ticket… all while someone waits on the other side, wondering why a “quick question” is taking so long. It’s rarely the agent’s fault—WooCommerce just wasn’t designed with a unified support workflow in mind. That’s why I wanted to share an article that reimagines WooCommerce customer support from the ground up. The team behind it rebuilt their integration so agents can see orders, update statuses, process refunds, send dynamic messages, recommend products, manage subscriptions, and search through store data—all from a single support dashboard. No juggling tabs, no hunting for information, no inefficiencies that turn small requests into long waits. Just faster replies, happier customers, and a support experience that actually feels modern. If support is part of your daily routine, this is worth a read. Read ThriveDesk article on Customer Support

Top Mistakes WooCommerce Store Owners Make and How to Avoid Them

Over the years, after chatting with hundreds of WooCommerce store owners, I’ve noticed something surprising: the biggest problems usually aren’t technical. They’re the small, almost invisible decisions that slowly pile up and start costing conversions, time, or sanity. It’s the store owner who launches with beautiful products but forgets to set up basic analytics. Or the shop that spends weeks perfecting the homepage while customers still struggle to navigate the checkout. Or the business that keeps adding plugins instead of fixing the underlying issue. We’ve all been there. Even experienced store owners fall into the same patterns. That’s why this week I wanted to highlight a resource that pulls these recurring mistakes into one place. The article brings together perspectives from developers, project managers, and even store owners who’ve run successful WooCommerce businesses themselves. What I love is that it’s not theoretical—these are issues they’ve seen again and again, and the fixes are simple, practical, and grounded in real stores. If you’re launching a new shop or improving an existing one, this is a worthwhile read. Read IconicWP article on Mistakes to Avoid
