WooWeekly #539: Customize Downloads Table | Sync Stock | Test Orders

Hello there,

Welcome back to WooWeekly! I’m glad you’re here for another round of WooCommerce insights. Every week, I curate tips and tutorials for you to help you sharpen your WooCommerce skills.

Hopefully, the family is finally out of the flu. It’s been a rough stretch – no sleep, no focus at work, a restless kid, and everything in between. But with spring here, things can only get better.

On the business side, yesterday’s class – Preventing WooCommerce Checkout Carding Attacks – went great! The recording is now available, and I’ve already scheduled two more live masterclasses in April (see details in the “Club Corner” below).

My new free WooCommerce mini plugins are doing well, and I’m happy people got a chance to try them out – I’d love to do this again soon. If you haven’t yet, give me a follow on Twitter so you can find out when’s the next time!

While I was sick, I also spent some time on a personal project, and I’m thrilled with the results. It’s always satisfying to know how to code (and how to fix ChatGPT’s code!). This time, I built a blog content scraper to pull in university news from various sources and republish them on a site. Coding is always fun!

Anyhow, here’s your weekly round-up of WooCommerce tips and tricks. Enjoy!

WooCommerce Tips, Snippets & Tutorials

Here is a collection of posts to answer your biggest WooCommerce questions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced store owner, these resources will help you optimize your WooCommerce store and grow your online business.

WooCommerce: Hide Columns @ My Account Downloads Table

Want to customize the WooCommerce “Downloads” table on the My Account page? By default, WooCommerce displays multiple columns (“Product”, “Downloads remaining”, “Expires”, “Download”), but you may want to remove some for a cleaner look or to focus on essential information. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Synchronizing Product Stock Between Stores

In this post, we will discuss different ways of syncing product stock levels between multiple WooCommerce stores (across stores within a single multisite network, or standalone stores). [Business Bloomer]

Test WooCommerce Orders Without Real Transactions

A sandbox environment is a duplicate of your live store, where you can check everything – payment processing, order notifications, and inventory management – without affecting any real money or actual stock. It’s the correct way to simulate transactions, ensuring everything works without risking your store’s data. [CheckoutWC]

ICYMI: WooCommerce Snippets

WooCommerce: Add Column to Orders Table @ WP Dashboard

So the question is: how can we display additional columns in the orders table, so that we can display an order custom field, a specific product contained in the order, or anything order-related that can be “calculated” once we have access to the $order variable? Note: this snippet is not compatible with HPOS, as it relies on legacy hooks. For an HPOS-compatible solution, please consider the suggested free plugin. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Automatically Complete Processing Orders

If you wish to mark paid orders as “Completed” automatically (i.e. without having to manually login to the site and “check” processing orders one by one), you can use this code. Apparently, this won’t work with COD / BACS / Cheque orders when order total is > 0, so I also coded a free plugin to get this sorted. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Show/Hide Registration Form on Login Page

WooCommerce by default displays both login and registration forms on the same page when “Allow customers to create an account“ is enabled on the My Account page. However, for a cleaner and more user-friendly experience, you may want to hide the registration form initially. This method keeps the interface focused while still allowing easy access to the registration option. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Add “Leave a Review” Column to Downloads Table

This snippet modifies the WooCommerce My Account downloads section, ensuring customers can leave product reviews directly from their available downloads. The button appears only for products that haven’t been reviewed yet. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Search Orders By 2-Letter Country Code [HPOS]

WooCommerce’s order search function is essential for store admins, but with the introduction of High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS), searching by billing or shipping country code may no longer work as expected. If you’re used to quickly filtering orders by country, this limitation can be frustrating. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to bring back this functionality using a custom code snippet. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Programmatically Mark Products As Featured

For store owners managing hundreds of products, setting featured items manually is inefficient. A dynamic approach can save admin time by automatically marking products as featured based on specific conditions, such as category, price, or custom logic. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Sticky Product “Update” Button @ WP Admin

In the WooCommerce product edit / add new product screen, the “Publish” / “Update” button is crucial for saving changes. However, when editing long product descriptions, adding images, or configuring variations, the button can disappear as you scroll down. A simple solution is to make the button sticky, ensuring it remains visible no matter how far you scroll. [Business Bloomer]

WooCommerce: Filter Products By Sale Status @ WP Dashboard

Sorting through hundreds or even thousands of products to find those with active sale prices can be a tedious task using the default WordPress admin interface. In this post, I’ll show you how to enhance your WooCommerce admin panel with a simple PHP snippet that adds a custom filter for sale status. [Business Bloomer]
